blog.santicartoons.ai ("the Site") is a personal blog operated by Felipe Santiago Monteiro da Silva. This policy explains what limited data the Site processes and why.
In short: commenting is optional but requires signing in with a Google account — nothing else on the Site creates an account. There are no other accounts, no advertising, and no tracking cookies. I do not sell or rent your data, and I use privacy-first analytics that do not identify you.
What is collected
- Aggregate analytics. On the production site I use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics tool. It sets no cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not store your IP address or other personal identifiers. It records aggregate counts such as page views, referrer, browser and operating system, screen size, and an approximate country.
- Server logs. The web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, user-agent, timestamp, and requested path) for security, abuse-prevention, and operational purposes. These are retained only for a short period.
- Local preferences. Your chosen light/dark theme is stored in your browser's
localStorage. It stays on your device and is never sent to me. - Comments. When you choose to comment, the self-hosted Remark42 service at
comments.santicartoons.aistores your display name, avatar image (on Felipe's own server filesystem), Google account identifier, and the comment text. The comment widget loads only when you scroll to it on a post page; readers who do not scroll make no comment-related request at all. Once posted, comments — together with your display name and avatar — are public and world-readable. Comments are post-moderated: they appear immediately and may be reviewed afterwards.
Reading the Site requires no account and there is still no newsletter, but commenting does require a Google sign-in at comments.santicartoons.ai. Nothing is collected from readers who do not comment beyond the items listed above.
Cookies
The Site itself sets no tracking or advertising cookies. The theme preference described above uses localStorage, which is not a cookie and is not transmitted into my servers.
Using the comments widget causes comments.santicartoons.ai to set two functional cookies — both specific to that hostname, not to this blog's host:
- A session cookie holding a (httpOnly JWT) sign-in token, keeping you authenticated to the comment service.
- An anti-CSRF (XSRF) token protecting your comment submissions from cross-site request forgery.
These cookies exist solely to keep you signed in and secure comment submissions; they are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
Payments
If you choose to leave a voluntary tip, the payment is handled by Stripe. Stripe processes your payment details under its own privacy policy; the Site never receives or stores your card information.
Third parties
The only third parties that may receive data through your use of the Site are: GoatCounter (aggregate analytics), Stripe (only if you tip), and the hosting/CDN provider that serves the pages. Fonts are self-hosted, so viewing the Site makes no request to external font services.
For readers who choose to sign in to comment, Google is the only sign-in processor: its OAuth consent screen is configured with non-sensitive scopes (openid, userinfo.email, userinfo.profile) and returns only your display name and avatar URL. The comment service itself — Remark42 at comments.santicartoons.ai — is not a third party: it is self-hosted on Felipe's own infrastructure, which is the reason it was chosen over a hosted comment provider.
See Google's privacy policy for details on your Google account data.
How your data is used & shared
The limited data above is used only to understand aggregate traffic and to keep the Site secure and running. It is not sold, rented, or shared for advertising. It may be disclosed only where required by law or to the processors named above acting on my behalf.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. Because the Site is designed to collect almost none, there is usually little to act on — but you can contact me at felipe.santiago@outlook.com with any request or question.
Children
The Site is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect data from them.
International visitors
The Site can be accessed globally and may be served from, or processed on, infrastructure located in various countries. By using the Site you understand that any limited data described here may be processed in those locations.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version.
